Rest

Adequate rest is crucial in the recovery process for Long Haulers. It is important to prioritize rest and minimize stress in order to allow your body to heal and recover.

  • Rest doesn't just mean sleeping. While getting adequate sleep is important, it's also important to give your body breaks throughout the day. This might mean taking short naps, lying down for a few minutes, or simply sitting quietly and taking deep breaths.

  • Avoid overexertion. It can be tempting to try to push through the fatigue and other symptoms of Long Covid, but this can actually make things worse. Overexertion can lead to crashes, where you suddenly feel much worse than before. Instead, try to find a balance between rest and activity that works for you.

  • Be patient. Recovery from Long Covid can be a slow process, and it's important to give yourself time to heal. This may mean taking time off work or other responsibilities, or asking for help from friends and family.

  • Practice stress-reducing techniques. Stress can exacerbate the symptoms of Long Covid, so finding ways to manage stress is important. This might include relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or gentle yoga. It might also mean finding ways to reduce stress in your daily life, such as delegating tasks or setting boundaries with others.

  • Be kind to yourself. Recovering from Long Covid can be a frustrating and isolating experience. Remember that you are doing the best you can, and that healing takes time. Try to be gentle with yourself and practice self-compassion.

Overall, prioritizing rest is an essential part of Long Covid recovery. By giving your body time to heal and recover, you can increase your chances of returning to full health. Remember to listen to your body, be patient, and practice self-care in all its forms.
