Hopes for the Future

That it (long covid) leaves me alone!

My Story

In April 2020 two of my in laws died within 10 days from covid-19. 8 family members contacted it at the time. My husband was admitted too but thankfully he survived. I have had long covid since then. I have had lots of tests & good medical support. I had a lung washout in Dec & sinus surgery in Jan. I have a high resting heart rate, upper body tremors, chronic cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, insomnia, brain fog, depression/anxiety & a few other symptoms. I am self employed for 22 years & have been unable to work in over a year & I will be unable to work for at least another year. I have medical proof of this. I’m not entitled to illness benefit as I’m self employed so I have to apply for invalidity payment. I have been turned down for this payment & have asked for a review which can take 3 months for a reply. I employee 14 staff, have paid my taxes & more & yet I’m discriminated against! I cared for 50 families, wrote policies/procedures, worked full time in my business, had a great social/family life. Played in a band & now I’m so sick I have no life. I can’t even play with my grandchildren.

Most Challenging Aspect

Losing my old life & staying on top of the despair I feel.

Most Positive Aspect

Seeing the amount of support I have. Antidepressants & physiotherapy are both amazing & saved my life.
